𝐎𝐝𝐲𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐮𝐬'𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩
Ink drawing on #shikishi , which is a Japanese board, normally used for poetry or caligraohy. It made from fine Japanese washi paper laminated onto a sturdy core (often edged with a narrow strip of gold foil) My Japanese friend brought me a load back from Japan on her last trip. And inspired by all the #odyssey hype of the last week, I was thinking about how at school I was obsessed with ancient Greek ships.

OK, time to share another sketchbook:

Part 1: Vienna Trip (February 2026) Including #urbansketching style drawings I made while we were out and about and illustrations of some of my Viennese heroes whose work we looked at, homes we passed or statues we saw.

Part 2: Brighton Trip (April 2026) Including a random drawn collage of bits and bobs seen out and about in Broghton and a compilation of some of my favourite shop fronts made into a non-existant row.
.
The notebook is a gorgeous @travelers_company notebook in green (blue?) leather, which I got as a Birthday gift. I have rammed it full of (too many) refills; 2 or 3 sketchbooks, 2 concertina notebooks, a grid notebook, a plain notebook, and a lined one. It also have pockets galore to store tickets, stickers and random cuttings) I really love the concertina one, that you can fold out to make long drawing. There is something about the way that it is best viewed in person, folding and unfolding the book yourself, the fact you cannot really take a photograph of it, that really appeals to me!

Vier tekeningen van hetzelfde. Geïnspireerd door etsen van Rembrandt zoals 'Tis vinnich kout' en 'Dats niet' met twee boeren, en 'De pissende boer' met, nou ja, een plassende boer. Doen alsof ik een oude meester ben die hetzelfde kunstwerk keer op keer maakt, zoals Van Gogh met zijn slaapkamer of Munch met De Schreeuw... De kunst van de hoge nood!

6 pieces of my artwork were selected for a little exhibition at @clinkhostels in Amsterdam Noord. A combination of some of my older Amsterdam drawings and a couple of my newer, larger pieces. (and a seventh drawing, which I forgot to scan or photograph!) They have just been put up and will be hanging together with another couple of local artists for at least the next month, so if you find yourself in noord, do drop by to take a look!

Rainy Day Drawings.
Last week, when it started pouring down with rain, I quickly stopped off at the @rijksmuseum and spent an hour sketching a few pieces there. I used a fountain pen with a fude tip.

𝐍𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢
The sacred white bull who serves as the vahana (mount), gatekeeper, and most devoted devotee of the Hindu god Shiva. In Hindu philosophy, Nandi embodies unwavering faith, joy, strength, and righteousness, his name literally translating to "the one who gives joy"
